High School Program

Find out how we empower high school students to become responsible antibiotic users

Protect Antibiotics Program

Duration: 1 hour (45 minutes of lecture and 15 minutes of Q&A)

The Protect Antibiotics Program is designed for high school students age 15-18 to help them better understand antibiotics, proper usage of antibiotics, and antibiotic resistance. This program is best implemented during class time due to its comprehensive nature and time requirement. This program is suitable for students that have interests in the field of medicine, public health, or biology.

Our program curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • history of antibiotics
  • bacteria basics (distinguishing bacteria from viruses and other microorganisms)
  • definition of antibiotics
  • antibiotic mechanism
  • the science behind antibiotic resistance
  • the effects of antibiotic resistance
  • actions students can take to preserve the effectiveness of antibiotics

Youth Against Antibiotic Resistance Program (Coming Soon)

Duration: 20 minutes

Save Our Cure members are currently working on a new program called the Youth Against Antibiotic Resistance Program (YAABR). This program will be more flexible than the Protect Antibiotics Program and can be easily implemented due to its short time requirement. This curriculum will still cover the same range of topics as the Protect Antibiotic Program but in less depth. The YAABR Program is suitable for any high school students (age 15-18), regardless of their interests or background knowledge.

If you have any suggestions for any of our programs, feel free to send us your advice through the contact us page.
